Ballet Preljocaj
Unfortunately I missed the first part of the show but the second half was a
delight. Twelve dancers, twelve boards with lights of flowers as if to
enshrine them in light and beauty. The title for the biennale was beauty and
this show encaptured this wonderfully. The colors and lights and movements
were amazing, I was hypnotized by everything, electronic noise and beats and
drones, repetitive sounds changing pitch to each dancers’ slight of
movement. The dancers were so in sync it was difficult to tell if they were
even separate entities at some points. I was seriously convinced I was
hypnotized, or maybe it was just the fact I had been in the sunshine all day
and was a bit dazed from it, but anyway it was a heavenly experience. I
couldn’t take my eyes off the dancers bodies and their costumes, which did
as the brochure said and made them look even more naked than if they were
actually naked. Each line, each curve, each sinew of muscle was visible and
every time they moved it was fascinating to watch.
The movements were effortless yet incredibly difficult to imagine where to
begin to even start to think about attempting that kind of a movement. It
was wow factor all the way, breathtaking. |
