Robert Rodriguez's last film, again stars Danny Trejo, only this time Trejo is granted a leading part. This new change is extremely comical due to the fact that throughout the film Machete speaks very little; and when he does it is only to make rotund and banal comments.
The subject the film treats is a very serious one and a current problem - the illegal Mexican immigrants and the trespass of the Mexican border.
Nevertheless, the subject is treated with great humor and ironic delicacy. A film, following Rodriguez's general tendency, that is full of gore scenes and iconic images such as Lindsay Lohan as "the nun with the gun".
Very entertaining and ironically political.
