Caracremada is
a film about resistance which introduces the audience to whole new angle and
idea of what fighting for ones principles and ideals means.
Full of ambient noises, short of dialogues and plagued with detailed and
minimalistic photography; Galters first feature film immerses the audience
within the conviction and lifestyle of Ramon Vila Capdevila. Unlike many of
the latest films concerning the Spanish civil war and Spanish "franquismo",
Galter does not bring to us a heroic and idealized image of the anarchist
"maquis", but slight glimpses of both banal and transcendental moments
within their lives. With these details we are able to fully understand the
dutiful and laborious life the "maquis" lived, in particular Capdevila when
fighting for his principles.
It is far from the typical war film, with not one action scene; but that
nevertheless expresses it's message and tells it story with the firmness and
strength of an elephant- such as the telephone pylons Ramon cuts down.
